He got game credits
Taking on the Wu at their own game -- and, if you think about it, Puff Daddy as well, since the simple, repetitive loop of Buffalo Springfield 's "For What It's Worth" on the title track was nothing more than a brazenly successful one-upmanship of Puff 's shameless thievery -- didn't hurt the group's credibility, since they did it well. Listen to the circular, menacing synth lines of the opening "Resurrection" or the scratching strings on "Unstoppable" and it's clear that Public Enemy could compete with the most innovative artists in the younger generation, while "Is Your God a Dog" and "Politics of the Sneaker Pimps" proved that they could draw their own rules.
That said, He Got Game simply lacked the excitement and thrill of prime period PE -- Chuck D , Terminator X , and the Bomb Squad were seasoned, experienced craftsmen, and it showed, for better and worse. They could craft a solid comeback like He Got Game , but no matter how enjoyable and even thought-provoking the album was, that doesn't mean it's where you'll turn when you want to hear Public Enemy.

Tells the story of Jesus Shuttlesworth, the most sought after high school basketball prospect in the nation. Jesus and his dream to make it to the big ranks in professional basketball are overshadowed by his father, Jake, who is spending his life in prison for killing Jesus' mother.
The father, the son and the holy game. Rated R for pervasive language, strong sexuality, some drug content and violence. Did you know Edit. While Kobe liked the script, and the idea of working with Spike, he had just finished his rookie year in the NBA the , and had shot several airballs in a brutal playoff loss by the Lakers to the Utah Jazz, and planned a workout program that would help him maintain his strength through the longer NBA seasons a major adjustment, as Kobe went straight from high school to the pros.
So he told Spike the summer of was too important to spend time making the film, and Spike promptly sought out Ray Allen, who quickly accepted the lead role.
Goofs At first while D'Andre is touching Lala's neck, he's not wearing any ring - next scene he's wearing a silver ring on his ring finger. Quotes Jesus Shuttlesworth : Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin' back, then just J right in his face.
User reviews Review. Top review. Pretty lousy. Overall this movie pretty much sucked, its kind of boring and contrary to what some people say, All-Star Ray Allen is a terrible actor and detracted a lot from the power of the movie, especially when he is paired with the awesome force of Denzel Washington.
On the plus side the boy who played young Jesus Shuttlesworth was very similar to Allen Denzel Washington is once again amazingly convincing in his role, this time as a mostly ignorant father with some intriguing wisdom who was sent to prison for accidentally killing his own wife that scene is ridiculous, unless his wife had a completely separate unnoticed brain tumor that coincidentally hemorrhaged just as Denzel pushed her a whole two feet into the stove.
Other pluses in the movie are an amazing scene involving an agent who talks a great game and Laker Rick Fox, a much more natural actor than Allen, who makes a cameo in an amusing scene as a black college baller who likes his chocolate white.
The scenes between Denzel Washington and Milla Jovovich are very nicely done especially the work by Denzel although it seems odd that a bum who killed his wife and a cheap tramp shacked up in a sleazy hotel would be two of the most attractive people on the planet.
Unfortunately the movie's handful of great scenes are buried by areas of ill-conceived situations and dialogue, blaring music that is poorly chosen and a vintage Spike-Lee-totally-wacked ending.
